Customer Reviews

  • “I am pleased with the DDW1899BLS. I and my husband don’t really care much for a high-end unit, so features like a stainless stub and 8 place setting are enough for us. I also find the stainless steel finish quite attractive and easy to keep clean with a damp cloth.” – Spencer, Massachusetts
  • “I bought this dishwasher a year ago and have used it everyday, since. I did not own a dishwasher prior, but this is a dream come true in terms of eliminating frustrating kitchen chores. I give it 5 stars not because it is the best dishwasher, but because it has met and exceeded my expectations.” – Joe, New York

  1. I bought this model in 2014, and it appeared to be used, although I bought it as new. I learned right away that I could not trust the manufacturer, and the warranty is of little or no value. This dishwasher replaced a Kenmore that had been in service for 25 years, and worked great; but, the rack coating was compromised with extensive rust resulting. This model takes 3-4 times per cycle as did the Kenmore, but my pre-washed dishes are cleaned. However, in only 5 years, I have found that the lower rack has extensive rust, occurring from the inside out of the vinyl coating. I had only noticed it on one prong; but, when I removed it, for repair, I saw that the underside showed rust in many places. And, the vinyl coating, in places, was bubbled; and, removal of those bubbles revealed rust. This is obviously a manufacturer defect; but, of course, the 18 month warranty is expired. I sincerely doubt that it would have been covered within those 18 months. A responsible manufacturer would make good on any such defect; but, I know better than even to ask Danby.
