What Is GE Adora Dishwasher?

ge adora dishwasher

The Adora is a dishwasher manufactured by General Electric. They built this appliance to clean all varieties of dishware thoroughly and efficiently. It uses a variety of unique features to provide exceptional cleanliness at a great value. General Electric is a reputable company known for producing durable, top-quality appliances and the GE Adora dishwasher is no exception.

Product Specs

The Adora is a 102 pound, stainless steel dishwasher. It’s designed to hold an impressive 16 place settings and provide optimal cleanliness. It includes three wash levels: a lower rack, middle rack, and upper rack. The upper rack can hold an entire flatware set along with knives and utensils to maximize the space within the dishwasher. The middle rack can be moved up or down by two inches to accommodate tall dishes or glassware on the lower level. The GE Adora dishwasher also contains a three-piece silverware basket to separate and organize utensils.

One of this product’s most effective features is its “Piranha” hard food disposer with removable filter. This component uses a stainless steel blade that rotates at 3,600 RPM to eliminate tough, stuck-on food particles and prevent clogging in the wash arms. This dishwasher uses 100% filtration and has four different wash cycles: auto sense, heavy wash, light wash, and normal wash. It has a concealed top control panel and a cycle status light on the door to notify the user when the wash is complete. It comes with several special features including the 1-12 hour delay start, steam pre-wash, child lock, and the option to wash the top and lower levels separately. Perhaps the most notable feature is its exceptionally quiet wash cycle which many users claim to be virtually noiseless. Finally, the Adora has been awarded many certifications including, Energy Star, CEE Tier 1 and NSF.

Ease of Use

This dishwasher is extremely easy to use. The controls and operations are straightforward and function as intended. The cycle status light indicates what point the load is at in its wash cycle and informs the user when the wash is complete. Also, the GE Adora dishwasher successfully provides a deep clean with little to no pre-washing.

Installation

GE provides customers with a detailed installation guide. However, setup won’t be easy for someone without experience installing major appliances. Owners must exercise extreme caution during the installation process and follow the guidelines precisely. If you’re new to this type of project, it’s recommended to hire a professional. Otherwise, the instructions are clear.

Design Quality

We were impressed with the overall design quality of the GE Adora dishwasher. Its stainless steel build is sleek and modern, plus ensures long-lasting durability. The three wash racks and silverware basket allow users to maximize space and maintain organization. Also, the “Piranha” hard food dispenser consistently provided an exceptional clean with zero clogging. However, the most remarkable design feature was the nearly silent wash cycle.

Warranty

This dishwasher comes with a standard one-year limited manufacturer’s warranty for parts and labor.

Pros

  • Exceptionally quiet wash cycle
  • Fits more dishes than competitors
  • Provides consistently clean dishes

The Bosch Ascenta Series is the first competing product we reviewed. This dishwasher is also made of stainless steel, but is much lighter than the Adora at just 71 pounds. It comes with six wash cycles, more than all the dishwashers we reviewed. It can hold 14 place settings, has two wash options and a fairly quiet wash cycle. It lacks the surplus of special features found in the GE Adora dishwasher, but has an adjustable upper rack, a sanitize option and a delayed start option.

Ease of Use

We found this product to be fairly easy to use. Loading and unloading is simple, and it has a wide range of wash options. The control panel is straightforward, ensuring easy operation. However, some pre-washing is necessary for tough messes and/or stuck on food.

Installation

They do not include installation with the purchase of this product, but Bosch provides customers with a detailed instruction guide. We found the installation process to be fairly simple, even for inexperienced users.

Design Quality

The Bosch’s stainless steel build makes this appliance highly durable. We also enjoyed the lightweight design which enhanced the ease of installation. However, we were disappointed in its overall cleaning ability because it requires a great deal of pre-washing to achieve optimal cleanliness. We were also dissatisfied with its drying ability, finding dishes remained wet at the end of the wash cycle. The racks only support a small load compared to the GE Adora dishwasher and the top rack was extremely squeaky.

Warranty

The Bosch Ascenta comes with a one-year limited manufacturer’s warranty on parts and labor, but also includes a five-year limited warranty on racks and some electronic parts, such as the microprocessor and printed circuit board.

Pros

  • Impressive warranty
  • Lightweight, stainless steel design
  • Easy installation

Cons

  • Pre-washing required
  • Overpriced in relation to quality
  • Poor drying ability

The next product we reviewed was the KitchenAid dishwasher. Its design is similar to the GE Adora dishwasher with a concealed control panel, stainless steel build and a weight of 102 pounds. It contains three nylon racks and can handle a load of 14 place settings. Similar to the Adora, they craft this dishwasher to maximize space with two fold-down cup shelves and stemware holders. These components allow extra room in the upper rack for additional cups, glasses, utensils, and spatulas.

It operates on a filter-based wash system with five wash cycles. It also includes sanitizing, heat dry and express-wash options. One of its standout features is its “ProWash” cycle. This automatically determines the ideal wash cycle based on soil level and makes real-time adjustments to optimize cleaning performance. Also, the detergent dispensers reduce spotting on dishes by releasing measured amounts of detergent throughout the wash. Like all the products we reviewed, this dishwasher is Energy Star certified.

Ease of Use

This dishwasher is simple to operate. The control panel is like that of the Adora and allows users to select the appropriate wash option. The three dish racks are easy to load and unload. However, substantial pre-washing is required to achieve sufficient cleanliness.

Installation

Similar to the GE Adora dishwasher, they do not include installation. It comes with a detailed and straightforward instruction guide, but set up could be a challenging task for inexperienced buyers.

Design Quality

Although this product has many impressive features, we also discovered negative components that cannot be overlooked. We were disappointed in the cleaning ability of this product. Unless the user extensively pre-washes dishes containing stubborn food particles, the KitchenAid dishwasher will not provide a sufficient clean. Also, the racks didn’t secure the dishware properly, so users will risk their dishes smacking and breaking.

On the plus side, the stainless steel design is beautiful, sturdy and aids in the exceptional drying process. The concealed control panel contributes to the sleek appearance and provides easy operation. Also, this dishwasher runs nearly as quietly as the Adora.

Warranty

The KitchenAid dishwasher had the greatest warranty of all the products we reviewed. It comes with a one-year limited manufacturer’s warranty for parts and labor, a second through fifth year warranty on the nylon dish racks and electronic controls, and a lifetime warranty on the stainless steel tub and inner door liner.

Pros

  • Quiet wash cycle
  • Provides exceptionally dry dishes

Cons

  • Insufficient cleanliness without pre-washing
  • Racks don’t secure dishes properly

The Miele dishwasher is one of the most highly recommended dishwashers on the market. Similar to the GE Adora dishwasher, it’s known for its exceptional cleaning ability and incredibly quiet wash cycle. It’s roughly the same weight as the Adora at 107 pounds and is made of clean touch steel. It features a visible control panel with an operation indicator, three shower sprays and five wash cycles. Its roomy interior is great for large loads and includes a top-level silverware tray to maximize the space below. Its basket design ensures optimal security of dishware and contains ergonomic basket handles for easy loading and unloading. The versatile lower basket is an excellent feature for easily fitting large pots and pans into the rack. Like all the dishwashers we reviewed, the Miele is Energy Star Certified.

Ease of Use

The Miele dishwasher is extremely easy to use. They design the interior to maximize space for large loads and bulky items. The basket handles make loading and unloading a breeze and no pre-washing is necessary. The control panel is easy to view and the operation system is straightforward.

Installation

Purchasers may have the dishwasher installed by a Miele employee for an additional charge, or may install it themselves. It comes with a detailed, picture-based instruction guide which most users have reported as quite easy to follow. Even those without prior installation experience have found the process simple enough to recommend self-installation to future buyers.

Design Quality

The design of this product is durable, functional and aesthetically appealing. The interior is thoughtfully crafted, allowing large loads to fit comfortably and securely. Although the wash cycle is lengthy at two to three hours, it consistently cleans dishes with the toughest stuck on food. Like the GE Adora dishwasher, the wash cycle is amazingly quiet. The only flaw we found regarding the design quality was the lack of an end-of-cycle indicator light. However, we thought this flaw was too minimal to lower the overall rating.

Warranty

Customers who install the product themselves are entitled to a one-year limited manufacturer’s warranty on parts and labor. If installed by a Miele employee, customers are entitled to a two-year limited manufacturer’s warranty on parts and labor.

Pros

  • Exceptional cleaning ability
  • Quiet wash cycle
  • Roomy and ergonomic interior design

Cons

  • Lengthy wash cycle
  • No end of cycle light

Conclusion

We awarded the GE Adora dishwasher an overall rating of 4 out of 5 stars. The design is both beautiful and durable and the product is extremely easy to use. It can fit more dishes than any competitors we reviewed, and it consistently delivers sparkling clean dishes. Most impressively, the wash cycle is almost completely silent. The installation process may be a bit complex for some users, but the end result is worthwhile. At a relatively low price of $650, the GE Adora dishwasher is a high-quality dishwasher for an exceptional value.
